Asfi Javed on being embarrassed in school overdue fees
When asked about her school days, the social media influencer answered “I had to leave my education. It was because there was no money to pay for their fees. Every month my mother would sell something, a gold chain, earrings. Every month there would be a reminder from school that your fees haven’t been paid, and you aren’t eligible to sit for the exams. They would also call my mother for the same. I was just determined to complete the 11th and 12th. And I never had any demands. I never purchased books or anything, I borrowed them from my seniors or my friend’s siblings. After school, I worked at a call centre to meet my college fees. I completed college then.”
Asfi Javed on being an actress
On being asked about her future plans, Asfi revealed she always wanted to be an actress. She said, ” To be an actress I had to lose a lot of weight. When the show was being shot, I was determined to lose weight. The reason is that I was seen as Uorfi Javed’s elder sister on the show. I have PCOD, and it was difficult for me to lose weight, even if I eat say one meal a day. I tend to bloat.“
Asfi added, “I was determined to lose weight and get back into shape. And I am trying to boost my confidence as well. It is very tough to face the camera, there was some hesitation. Whenever I get scripts or auditions, I get nervous and hesitate. I have this thought if this is too much on camera, am I overacting or something? So yeah I am working on all these things.”
Asfi Javed on independent identity
During the same conversation, Asfi revealed she runs her own business and isn’t dependent on Uorfi to take care of her currently. She said, “Uorfi takes care of everyone, be it mummy, Dolly, Sameer, or me. Especially in Mumbai, she helps me with everything possible. But I run my own business, and I pay for my expenses. I am an influencer. And I pay my rent. I make decent money, but as you might be aware the payment for influencers is always delayed. Sometimes even collaborations aren’t even regular.”
Asfi Javed: Clothing is a personal choice
While talking about fashion, Asfi said clothing is a personal choice. Uorfi Javed’s elder sister said, “As kids were always smart enough to know as kids what clothes to wear. My dad always wanted to leave, he kept on looking for reasons to leave. Just imagine, we were in school or college, and we never went shopping for clothes by ourselves. Our parents used to take us to shop, my dad used to pay for the clothes.”
She also added “In Lucknow, we didn’t always have a fashion sense; there were just three places we could buy from Globus, Westside and Shoppers Stop. We used to purchase normal jeans and tops. There wasn’t much of extra fashion there, that’s when he started to have an issue with this. So we had a thought, if you are paying for these clothes why are you creating a scene in front of others? So we were very much irritated by these things. This is not our fault, everyone wears tube tops or jeans. And it is available everywhere in H&M, Zara, or any other big brands. We aren’t the only ones who wear these clothes, everyone does.”
